Osteopathy

photo_osteopathyOsteopathic medicine is a complete system of medical care, complementary to other medical practices. It is suitable for almost anyone (babies, pregnant women, the elderly, sports people…) and can contribute to alleviating an enormous range of conditions. The philosophy is to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms, but the main cause.

Osteopathy has a holistic approach to health. This means that every part of the body is seen within the context of the whole; as all the organs and systems of the body are interconnected, we cannot treat one part without influencing and changing the whole.

The osteopath works on the musculoskeletal system (muscles and joints), the visceral system (organs such as the liver, kidneys, stomach…) and the circulation of vital fluids such as the nervous system, the blood system and the lymphatic system. It emphasizes the appreciation of the body’s ability to heal itself. This belief is very ancient and is due to good circulation of these vital fluids. His role is to restore the harmony, the mobility and therefore the vitality in the human body.

However, its preventive and curative actions have limits; osteopathy deals with functional problems (lack of mobility and function) not organic ones. When the body is balanced and efficient, just like a well-tuned engine, it will function with the minimum of wear and tear, leaving more for living.

Craniosacral Therapy
In response to physical knocks or emotional stress, the body’s tissues contract and sometimes stay contracted. These stored tensions will restrict the body’s functioning and may give rise, over the years, both physical ( back pain, migraine, or digestive disorders) and emotional (anxiety, depression, insomnia..). The osteopath treat these tensions by working in a very smooth way on the skull and the sacrum, the beginning and the core of the spine, to restore the mobility and the function of the structures related to the trauma. This kind of therapy is most useful for babies after the birth process and alleviates lots of symptoms such as colic, sucking problems, irritability, visual disturbances, learning difficulties…etc.

What does an osteopath treat?
In the musculoskeletal system: pains, joints disorders, postural problems (scoliosis, flat feet..) arthrosis, arthritis and all kind of rheumatism, neuralgia (sciatica…) …etc

Visceral dysfunctions: Breathing disorders, digestive problems, stomach ache, menstrual pain, skin problems, allergies…

In the craniosacral field: Birth trauma, learning difficulties, Insomnia, emotional or nervous problems, exhaustion or lack of vitality, headaches, migraines, hormonal imbalances
